Position: Summer Child & Youth Worker @ Gateway

Gateway City Church is looking for someone to join us for an 8 week position throughout July/August, in accordance with Canada Summer Jobs guidelines. Candidates must be between the ages of 15-30.The job description for this opportunity is a CHILDREN’S AND MIDDLE-SCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT. Accordingly, you will be expected to:

  • Be comfortable in a church environment, and willing to learn and experience a variety of vocational ministry opportunities

  • Assist the planning and facilitation of our mid-week middle school program

  • Assist the planning and facilitation of our Sunday Children’s program, as well as a Children’s day camp (July 19th-22nd)

  • Be able (and willing to learn) to fill in workplace gaps (i.e. administrative, custodial, etc.)

Position: Kamloops United Church Preschool & Out of School Care

This ad is for THREE Summer Students Job Positions.  The major qualifying factors are age and citizenship.  All applicants must be between the age of 19 years and 30 years old, and be a Canadian Citizen.  Partial funding for these positions is provided by a grant from CANADA SUMMER JOBS 2021.  

The positions become available Friday, 2nd July 2021, and end Friday, 3rd September 2021.  This will be nine complete weeks of employment.  The rate of pay will be $15.85 per hour.  There are two shifts available.  They will both be an 8 hour shift / 5 days a week.  Successful applicants will be working in a supervisory capacity with a group of Out of School Age Children.  This would be an excellent position for someone requiring hours of work with children to complete a level of training.   

Successful applicants require the following:

1) A Criminal Record Check as required by Interior Health Licensing, (this must be completed before work with the children begins, it could take up to six weeks)

2) An up to date First Aid Certificate

3) Food Safe Certificate

4) Swimming Experience (Life Guard Certificate preferable)

5) A Physician’s note stating that you are mentally and physically capable of working actively with a child or group of children

6) Experience working with children ages 5 years to 12 years old.  The ability to plan and carry out activities for the children to do throughout the day

7) Presently enrolled in:  Early Childhood Education Program, or Bachelor of Education, or Bachelor of Fine Arts, or Bachelor of Social Work, or any field of study that may require one to one / one to group interaction with children in a supervisory capacity

8) Three Letters of Reference indicating your skills in working with children of school ages 5 years to 12 years old.

Position: Responsible Adult @ Gateway Children's Centre

Hours:

    • 2:00pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday

    • Spring and Christmas Break

    • School in-service days (approx.1 day/month)

    • Possible full-time hours July and August

Qualifications:

    • 19 years and up

    • *Responsible Adult Course Certification (20 hours)

    • *Current First Aid Certificate

    • Clear Criminal Record Check

    • Loves children and is initiative, collaborative, reliable, energetic and fun!
