Part time minimum 5 hours up to 10 hours per week

This is an 18 month maternity leave job to start that could be extended if need be.

Wage: $20 to $22 per hour

Job Summary

The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the financial bookkeeping system. This includes accounts payable, receivable, payroll, entering and tracking contributions, bank reconciliation and more. This position requires on site work at Gateway City Church. You will also be assisting the board treasurer by providing reports and other information requested. 

 Job Description

  1. Provide bookkeeping and payroll services.
  2. Prepare and mail cheques and pay bills online
  3. Record and track all money coming in, including contributions.
  4. Distribute tax receipts and T4s annually.
  5. Prepare deposits and drop off at the bank.
  6. Process payroll for church staff on a semi-monthly basis manually using Revenue Canada Payroll Calculator.
  7. Reconcile bank accounts, run reports, and send out cheques to mission partners each month.
  8. File all necessary paperwork with the City of Kamloops, Revenue Canada, Worksafe BC, Canada Summer Jobs, group benefits, etc.
  9. Maintain an efficient filing system.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the board treasurer. 

Qualifications:

  • Any combination of related education, training, or experience encouraged. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Must understand the importance of confidentiality. 
  • Must be a self-motivated worker.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
